Pamushana

Perched on top of an escarpment, with spectacular panoramic views, Pamushana is the most exquisite lodge in Africa. With its intimate attention to detail and service it is the perfect compliment to the splendor of the Malilangwe Reserve and its rich diversity of wildlife.

Built amongst the rocks & trees of this spectacular precipice, using indigenous building materials & traditional African thatching, Pamushana blends in beautifully with the surrounding environment. There is a swimmimg pool, a game viewing deck, and lawns & patios for relaxing & sun-bathing. There is also a fully equipped gymnasium, library, sauna & gift boutique. The circular dining room is quite unique - the entire interior has been hand-painted with a detailed mural depicting the magic of the African bush, complete with wild animals & birds. There is also an al fresco dining deck, overlooking the Malilangwe lake. Pamushana prides itself on excellent cuisine & attentive but unobtrusive, service.

The Malilangwe Private Wildlife Reserve offers a very diverse variety of mammals inlcuding the Big Five - Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino & Buffalo. Other notable game includes giraffe, hyena, Painted Hunting dog, hippo, nyala, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, impala, Roan antelope, sable & Lichtenstein's hartebeest. With over 400 recorded species of birds, and one of the highest concentrations of raptors in the world, the Reserve offers exceptional bird watching.

Accommodation:

There are 4 double & 2 family villas. Each villa is an extravagant space, built with intricate hand-hewn stone work, reminiscent of Great Zimbabwe. Exotic works of art & richly tectured materials from all over Africa blend in with hand-carved tables, big comfortable chairs, shelves of books & bowls of fruit creating a tranquil ambience. Walls of sliding glass lead out onto a teak leisure deck where you can lie in your own swimmimg pool enjoying the breathtaking views.

In addition each villa is air-conditioned, has an entrance hall, large lounge, kingsize bedroom, dressing room, full bathroom, guest toilet, fireplaces in the lounge & bedroom, mini-bar, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, open-air shower, & your own private telescope. A honeymoon suite is available & one villa has been specially adapted for elderly or physically-challenged people.
