Tsowa Safari Island
Introduction
Tsowa Safari Island is located 40km upstream from the Victoria Falls, in the Zambezi National Park, Zimbabwe. It is a 16 bed luxury modern day Explorer style tented camp. Guests are transferred in open 4x4 vehicles from a private entrance to the Zambezi National Park to the edge of the Zambezi river and then transferred by boat to the island. Total transfer time from Victoria Falls is approximately 1 hour.
Activities include game drives and guided game walks on the mainland through the Zambezi National Park, guided walks around the island home to magnificent Baobab trees and wonderful bird life, guided rafting down the Zambezi river with a picnic lunch and sun downer cruises on the river. Regrettably no children under 12 years.
Accommodation
River View Safari Tents: The large airy safari tents are nestled on the edge of the island on the banks of the Zambezi River under the shade of deep forest. Each tent has a small covered verandah set near the river’s edge and looks directly across to the Zambezi National Park. The tents have both indoor and outdoor showers.

Each tent has a private deck over the river’s edge and looks directly across to the Zambezi National Park. Indoor bathroom with shower and an outdoor shower.
Activites
Guided Island Walks: Guided 1 hour walks (or longer if required) are offered daily to the older magnificent centre of the island, home to century old Baobab trees . Rare gr=round lilies flower early in the year while a tranquil river runs through the island where a pair of breeding Pel’s Fishing owl”s reside in a Mangosteen tree. The bird life along the waters edge includes African Finfoot and Schalow’s Turaco.
Guided Canoeing: Available year-round, Children 16 years + older. Canoeing is done in two man inflatables and is offered from mid-morning to early afternoon, guests will be accompanied by guides also in inflatables. This fun activity is a great way to spend an adventurous afternoon. Guest leave from the island in their boats and have lunch and drinks en-route on the banks of the river. The take out point is approximately 1.5 hrs downstream. Guest are be transported back to the island in an open 4x4 game viewing vehicle
Guided Game Walks: Children 16 years + older. Game walks are offered on the mainland which is considered a primewalking safari area. A light breakfast is offered before embarking at first light on the walk. Departure time is determined by sunrise.
Guided Game Drives: Children 12 years + older. Game drives are offered through this scenically beautiful national older park in the early mornings. The game drives are approximately 3 to 4 hours and include a refreshment stop. The Zambezi National Park is home to large herds of elephant, buffalo, lion, hyena, giraffe and numerous antelope species. A light breakfast is offered before embarking at first light on the game drive. The departure time is determined by sunrise.
River Cruise: The river cruise is offered in the late afternoon to enjoy the older spectacular sunsets along the Zambezi River. Guest can enjoy drinks and snacks with our guides on our comfortable river cruiser while keeping an eye out for game coming down to drink.
