Known by the locals as “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, meaning “the smoke that thunders”.
 

Situated in the westernmost part of Zimbabwe where the mighty Zambezi is 1,700m wide at the point where it plunges from a maximum height of 107m into the gorge below.

The wet summer season from November to March is when the temperatures are hot (30°C), the sunsets are spectacular and thunderstorms light up the skies.
 

The dry winter season from May to September offers cooler temperatures averaging 20°C which can drop to 5°C at night – best for walking and game viewing.
